Where Would I Be?
Where would I be without the Holy Spirit?
When I became a child of God I began to change. My desires, thoughts, and priorities shifted but not by my own efforts.
This shouldn’t have surprised me because the Holy Spirit opened my eyes to see Jesus which is why I’m no longer a child of the world. But now the Holy Spirit began to conform me to the likeness of Christ.
I’m not the same person and this is why…
When I begin to turn toward the world’s attractions…
Thank you, Holy Spirit, for convicting me and illuminating God’s Word so I turn from the world’s attractions.
When I’m making a decision…
Thank you, Holy Spirit for your counsel, knowledge, and wisdom.
When I feel alone…
Thank you, Holy Spirit, for prompting me to an awareness of your presence to know I’m never alone.
When I don’t know my purpose in life…
Thank you, Holy Spirit, for quieting my restless spirit so I’m still and can hear God’s will for my life.
When I feel my life is too hard…
Thank you, Holy Spirit, for comfort, wisdom, and strength to persevere and endure life’s trials.
When I feel I’m not equipped to answer God’s will for my life…
Thank you, Holy Spirit, for your spiritual gifts that equip the body of Christ to accomplish God’s purpose.
When I look back into my past and feel shame and guilt…
Thank you, Holy Spirit, for reminding me I’ve been cut free from my past baggage of sin by God’s forgiveness.
When I question, “Am I really saved?”
Thank you, Holy Spirit, for reminding me it’s not my works but grace through faith in Jesus that guarantees my salvation. The fact that you, Holy Spirit, are with me is proof of that.
When I’m stunned by the ferocity of the enemy’s attack in spiritual warfare…
Thank you, Holy Spirit, that you’ve prepared me for this attack and are standing there with me.
When I feel that I’ve failed in serving Jesus because I don’t see results when I step out for Him…
Thank you, Holy Spirit, for reminding me that I haven’t failed—I stepped out in obedience—the outcome is all your work.
When the chaos of world events makes me fearful…
Thank you, Holy Spirit, for reminding me I’m a child of the One who created all that is visible and invisible in heaven and on earth. And all rulers, powers, thrones and authorities were created by Him for Him. So, there’s no reason for me to fear the world’s chaos because He is in control.
When I question, “What difference can I make in this world?”
Thank you, Holy Spirit, for your gift of the fruits of the Spirit that reflect the attributes of Jesus you are growing in me to conform me to the likeness of Jesus.
These beautiful attributes of love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, kindness, goodness, faithfulness and self-control make me different in this world.
And that’s my purpose. To reflect the One that I follow—Jesus Christ. But only through the power of the Holy Spirit that indwells in me.
Praise the Holy Spirit.
Let's return to the question:
Where would I be without the Holy Spirit?
I’d be where I was when I was a child of the world. And that’s where I don’t want to be for so many reasons...
